Dr. Brewster in the Media

Style Magazine

Dr. Amy Hill Brewster was an honoree of the Hope Lives! Champions of Hope 2010 Award. She was feautured in Lydia's Style magazine in September 2010.

The September 2010 issue of Lydia's Style is an annual issue that is focused on women’s health and wellness, with a special emphasis on breast cancer and reproductive cancers. The magazine includes information on breast cancer research, prevention, treatment, protocols, and interviews with doctors. There are also profiles of courageous survivors, who offer hope and inspiration to those affected by breast cancer.

Here's what Dr. Brewster had to say about being honored:

"Taking care of breast cancer patients has been my career devotion. I was so excited 10 years ago when Lydia Dody founded Hope Lives with the goal of helping individual patients not only survive, but also thrive in the face of breast cancer. That is truly what breast reconstruction is all about. So naturally I wanted to be a part of Hope Lives and today I am honored to receive this award.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer while I was in medical school. She lived cancer free for 20 years, and then died five years ago during treatment for a recurrence. My goal has always been to provide my patients with the level of care I would want for my own family.

Each patient is unique. They come with different needs and goals. It is a joy to help them determine which path is right for them and move past the fear. I get more back than I give. These women and their families are an inspiration to all who know them and each has a special place in my heart."
